The area has a total population of 3,65,356 (2011 census), with its immediate impact region covering 7 nearby villages. These villages have a combined population of 11,949 and a literacy rate of 69.7%. Currently, The Nook has catered to 40 learners during its two cycles and has undertaken 16 projects. It fosters a self-directed learning environment for people of different ages, emphasising 'Learning Through Making'. Nook supports local learners from the area with guidance, workshops, and experiential learning opportunities. The primary goal is to make learning engaging and hands-on, encouraging creativity and problem-solving skills. The Nook provides essential resources for learning and strives to create an inclusive, collaborative, and community-owned space. Decisions are taken democratically, co-creating rules with learners and promoting resourcefulness. Over time, learners take on more responsibilities, with Nook fellows transitioning into advisory roles. This transformative approach empowers the community and brings positive change to the traditional education system.
