An ongoing environment regeneration initiative at Chandan Pasture Land supported by the local village council. Just two years ago, the 3000 bigha pasture land in Chandan village, was a wasteland dominated by Juliflora, an invasive plant species. The village community initially replaced over 300 bigha of land with seeds from 15 local desert grasses, including Sewan, Dhaman, Murath, Lump, etc., to restore the area in 11623 man days under MGNREGA. Building on this indigenous initiative, I Love Jaisalmer’s Environment Regeneration initiative planted over 10,000 trees, representing 11 native species, using traditional plantation techniques. These selected species are well-suited to the area's geographical and climatic conditions and will contribute to restoring the ecosystem of the region. The initiative aims to promote biodiversity conservation in the area while simultaneously minimising the carbon footprint through energy-efficient techniques such as solar energy and traditional watering systems. This approach aligns with national carbon mitigation efforts.
