The lack of better connectivity adversely affected Jaisalmer’s growth potential. Built in 2013, Jaisalmer Airport was not used for civil flights, and was closed until services resumed under the UDAN scheme in 2017. During the period 2015-2017, to start the air connectivity, TILF started a campaign hosting meetings with the local businessmen of the city, making them aware of the advantages of better and easier access to Jaisalmer. We ran the campaign through DGCA officials and lobbied it extensively at all possible platforms in the form of presentations and film. The foundation made extensive efforts to start a crowdfunded airline to Jaisalmer with the help of locals and anyone who believes in the cause and also tried to acquire NSOP (Non- Scheduled Operator's Permit) to start air connectivity to Jaisalmer.
